Biography

Alexander Bikbov, sociologist conducting research in the fields of citizen protest and mobilizations in the XXI century, reforms of public administrations and collective time management, construction of post-WWII social knowledge.

Born in Moscow, he collaborated with several Russian universities before transferring to France where he was visiting professor at the EHESS, then at Ruhr University Bochum (Germany), as well as invited lecturer in universities of Paris, Bordeaux, Rome, Berlin, Graz, Warsaw.

He published a book The Grammar of Order: A Historical Sociology of the Concepts That Change Our Reality (2014, 2nd edition 2016). His recent publications include “Une péripétie du gouvernement: la sociologie soviétique entre incitation et répression,” Actes de la recherche en sciences sociales, 3-4 (243-244), 2022; “Which Place for Radical Trial in Genetic Structuralism and in Pragmatic Approach?, ”SocietàMutamentoPolitica, 12(23), 2021; “Keep the City Clean: Ambiguous Ethics of Non-Violent Protests in Moscow,” in M.
