Why is effective Governance in NGOs important and what should it look like?

Governance is about guiding an organisation, choosing its chief executive, holding management accountable and giving friendly advice. Or is it? Is it about public relations; helping the organisation to look impressive? Is it about getting donors on board, or getting some volunteers to help the organisation in some way?

We will discuss these and other issues in this session to improve our understanding of governance theory and practice.
