Event Description

Experience has shown that there are significant weaknesses in the audit approach used by many firms, regardless of firm size and the type of audit methodology.  These weaknesses mean that an audit has a high probability of failing to identify very material errors, especially those arising from fraud.

Such audit failings almost invariably arise from poor audit planning.  If the audit is wrongly planned, it will never obtain sufficient appropriate evidence to support the audit opinion.

Audits that are badly planned would be difficult to defend if a dissatisfied client were to take a legal action against the firm.

This session aims to help auditors to:

  • tailor their audit methodology and avoid the trap created by inadequate planning;
  • perform audits with a much higher probability of identifying material frauds
  • gain credibility with donors by being the first to identify frauds
  • perform an audit that can be defended if necessary

Our speaker, Mr. David Wortham has worked with and trained hundreds of auditors that work with the NGO sector.  He has also performed cold file reviews of NGO audits performed by firms of all types and sizes.
